OUR HISTORY
Circuitronics was founded by Larry Muir in 1971 to take advantage of the still young, but booming, market for printed circuit boards. After graduating from Texas State University in 1969 and acquiring an affinity for the PCB industry while working for a manufacturer in Austin, Jerry Forbus joined Circuitronics as a co-owner in 1976. Together, Jerry and Larry built Circuitronics into one of the leading PCB manufacturers in Texas.
In 1994, Jerry bought the remaining shares of the company, and that same year, his son Jeff joined the company, starting as a salesman. Jeff learned the business from the ground up, working in many areas of the company and rising quickly throught the ranks. In 1997, the Forbuses started Q-Fab, focused soley on the PCB manufacturing part of the business. In 2001, Jeff purchased Circuitronics from Jerry, and in 2005 they moved into their new 83,000 sq ft. facility in Irving, TX. After that, Q-Fab focused on the PCB side of the business, while Circuitronics specialized in integration and contract manufacturing.
In 2008, Jeff sold Circuitronics to Longwater Opportunities in order to focus more on Q-Fab and his other businesses. Jeff and Jerry remain closely allied with Circuitronics and retain sales and consulting roles within the company. Since taking over Circuitronics, Longwater has invested heavily in capital improvements and in acquiring new talent and is focused on building on Circuitronics' 40 years of profitable history and taking it to the next level of success.
